  1. (Questioning) After reading this chapter/article what questions do I have?
By reading this chapter the question I have is should I analyze my reading more intensely now, and question everything I read to be the truth, while giving it the possibility to be false?

  1. (Knowledge)Tell three interesting elements of this chapter:
    1. Critical reading is a technique for discovering
    2. Critical thinking is a technique for evaluating
    3. Critical reading refers to a careful, active, reflective, and analytic reading. Critical thinking involves reflecting on the validity of what you have read insight of our prior knowledge and understanding of the world.
  1. (Comprehension) Summarize what is being discussed within this chapter?
This chapter talks about critical thinking v. critical reading. This chapter explains two different techniques of understanding words within a text.  As we read through a text, our brain processes the reading and we begin to understand what is real and not.
  1. (Application)Name a specific example or NEW solution for this type of problem/similar situation in society or that you have experienced – be specific and explain?
A specific example or new solution for this type of problem would be ABC/Spell-check. With the click of a button we can correct our grammatical errors, not only on a computer but also while texting on a cell phone. I feel that rereading material more than once will gives us a better understand of it because we are reanalyzing it.

  1. (Analysis) Address ANY that apply. How can you compare one of the situations in this chapter to something that does not relate to computers, technology, or the Internet? Be sure to reference the chapter and your solution. What ideas NEW can you add to the issue that is being presented within the reading?

I feel that people with strong accents in different countries may have a hard time adjusting their accent to be understood. Such as people migrating to America. When a person has a strong accent and speaks English, at first it may be hard to understand by our brains deciphers their statements and makes sense out of them.

  1. (Synthesis) Address all that apply. Do you agree with what is being said within the article (Why/Why not? Back up with FACTS, reference)?
I agree with what is being said because after each word we read in a text we break it down and begin to understand it and then familiarize our self with it.

We can think of a writer as having taken on a job.  No matter what the topic, certain tasks must be done:
  • a specific topic must be addressed
  • terms must be clearly defined
  • evidence must be presented
  • common knowledge must be accounted for
  • exceptions must be explained
  • causes must be shown to precede effects and to be capable of the effect
  • conclusions must be shown to follow logically from earlier arguments and evidence '
This is basically a setup for how a text should be written and I completely agree with the formation of the bullets listed.

  1. (Evaluation) Address all that apply. Judge whether or not this topic is relevant in today’s society? Are there any ethical considerations (see Chap1-1.4 for exp of Ethics) ? What new ideas will you make after reading this chapter/article?
This article is relevant in today’s society. After reading this article I begin to notice two different ways in reading and analyzing material within a text. I believe I will take with me from this article a sense of more in-depth reading, rereading things I feel may be false and question certain materials I read with subjectivity

  1. (Conclusion) After completing this assignment, based on new thoughts and evidence
    1. What new conclusions have you come to about this topic ?
I believe that critical thinking and critical reading are two completely different styles of reading.
    2. Below restate your questions from #1 and include the answer based on your new conclusions.
After reading this chapter I believe that it is about a person's subjectivity toward a text hat determines if they believe it to be true or false. But in the end, it is up to ourselves to personally decide what is real and what is fake.
